Antoine Domino Jr., who shot to fame as Fats Domino, passed away earlier today. He was 89. Domino was among the most influential rock and roll performers of the 1950s and 60s. Two of his biggest hits Ain’t That a Shame and Blueberry Hill established him as living legend in the early days of rock music
By sheer numbers, he sold more than 65 million records, second only to Elvis Presley. It would be this song – The Fat Man which would be credited by many as the first ever rock and roll record. Elvis would go on to call him as “the real king of rock n roll”.
RIP Fats Domino. And thank you for changing the world with your signature style.
