Who knew a talent for being annoying could get you to The Guinness book of records.
The PPAP song has made it to the Guinness book of records! What PPAP? Let me refresh your memory (although you might hate me for it) :
What was the record for though? For being the shortest song (45 seconds) to make it to the Billboard top 100. Last week, the song entered the US chart at No. 77, marking the first time in 26 years that a Japanese singer made the Billboard Hot 100.
“I’m surprised by this sudden popularity,” said 53-year-old Japanese comedian Pikotaro, a fictional singer song writer created and portrayed by Japanese comedian Daimaou Kosaka, as he was presented with his GWR certificate in Tokyo. “Without Justin Beiber’s impact, I think only four people would have showed up in this room!”
Pikotaro, who revealed he spent only 100,000 yen (Rs 65000/-) to make the video, hopes to do a world tour though doubts the global craze will continue.
I’m not going to be lining up to buy those tickets!
