James Cameron wants 3D without glasses for Avatar 2
We know there’s been several delays! James Cameron knows there’s been several delays! But don’t tell me you didn’t see this coming. With perfectionist Cameron behind the camera, one can only expect Avatar 2 to blow your mind.
What may be taking the most time isn’t the storyline but making sure the technology is advanced enough to facilitate director James Cameron’s fancy vision.
“I’m going to push. Not only for better tools, workflow, high dynamic range (HDR) and high frame rates (HFR) — the things we are working toward,” Cameron was quoted by IndieWire at the Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers.
“I’m still very bullish on 3D, but we need brighter projection, and ultimately I think it can happen – with no glasses.”
Although initial reports said that there would be three Avatar sequels, Cameron later suggested that he’ll be making four. “So far, the art I’m seeing, is in pure imagination, really far beyond the first film. It’s going to be a true epic saga.” he adds.
Imagine this scene in 3D without glasses!
Avatar 2 is due for a Christmas 2018 release, with Avatar 3 following in 2020, Avatar 4 in 2022 and Avatar 5 in 2023. In September, Cameron admitted that those release dates may have to shift if things take longer than he hopes.
All four instalments will be filmed simultaneously, but Cameron said it was less a back-to-back shoot, and more like the production of a TV miniseries.
“I want them to be released as close together as possible. If it’s an annual appointment to show up at Christmas, I want to make sure that we’re able to fulfil on that promise.”
There’s more mystery that awaits us in Pandora, but for now lets reminisce one of the best scenes of Avatar (2009)
