It’s time to you channel your inner DJ!
It was 44 years ago day at a Bronx bloc party that Hip-Hop music was said to be born. It was there that DJ Kool Herc invented the “break” (by isolating the percussive portion of a beat) and paved the way for Hip-Hop producers of the future, enabling them to use a simple turntable and a few choice records to make something that’s brand new and original.
While it can be tough to imagine what it may have been like at that fateful party in Bronx, 44 years ago, we can still get a feel of what it was like to be one of those first DJ’s who pioneered the techniques of sampling music thanks to today’s Google doodle.
