Indian Ocean, Euphoria, Parikrama, Arijit Singh, Raghu Dixit and more to perform at the Urbana music festival this weekend.
When was the last time you watched Euphoria or Indian Ocean perform live? It has been quite a while since they performed in our city. And Urbana Music Festival brings together these biggies along with Parikrama, Arijit Singh, Raghu Dixit and more this weekend at Ozone Urbana Kannamangla. There is something for everyone with the food trucks, flea market and a kids zone too.
Day 1: Raghu Dixit and Arijit Singh
Raghu Dixit
Microbiologist turned scientist and a master-level Bharatnatyam dancer, our local Bangalore rockstar will grace the first day of the Urbana Music Festival. He’s put Kannada music on the global map and has toured UK , US and even Australia with his band The Raghu Dixit Project. Dressed in their desi attire this fun gang are always a treat to watch as they turn the stage into a dance floor :
What to expect? High energy, interactive, multilingual folk music and maybe a Kannada lesson or two as well :

Arijit Singh
Do you really need convincing??? At just 29 years he already has more than a 100 Bollywood films he has lent his voice to. So much so that there is hardly a movie that does not feature a track by Arijit. It does not get any more soulful than this mashup of his hits :
Day 2: Indian Ocean, Parikrama and Euphoria.
Indian Ocean
A name synonymous with fusion indie rock this band has come a long way since their inception in 1990 when one of their members Sushmit Sen had to sell his electric guitar to raise funds for their demo tape that was 45 minutes long and consisted of 7 songs, all recorded in a single day. All though Bandeh is one of their popular tracks this one is my favorite simply because of Sushmit Sen’s solo :
Parikrama
This Rock band completes 25 years and was in town just last month. If you missed them then here is your chance to watch this epic band live this weekend. Parikrama has had a very successful tour of the UK earlier, where they were promoted by none other than Iron Maiden! Get ready to head bang to a mental set.
Euphoria
Formed back in 1988 by Palash Sen and his friends, this band was amongst the pioneers of the Hindi Pop music wave that hit India in the mid nineties. Remember this hit :
And here is one from their live performances :
