We’re back with volume #2 of the #XPlaylist!
Welcome to volume #2 of the #XPlaylist! Every week, we curate a list of the best new music. Whether it’s international or home brewed, we handpick the best of the best to create the perfect playlist, just for you.
Parvaaz – ‘Color White’
Kickstart your the week with Bangalore-based boys Parvaaz. Their latest single, ‘Color White’ is a natural progression from their earlier works, with the songwriting continuing to mature while still retaining the ‘feels’ that make Parvaaz so alluring.
(Sandy) Alex G – Sportstar
Alex G puts out a brand new single titled ‘Sportstar’. It’s an atmospheric track with a solid backbone to it. The haziness of the guitars and the synths is aptly complimented with a steady piano part and a really cool bassline.
Baba Stiltz – Can’t Help It
If you’re in the mood for something a little more chill this week, Baba Stiltz is what you need. ‘Can’t Help It’ is a groovy, sprawling track that continues to grow and morph throughout. One of the best tracks from the Swedish producer yet.
Nilüfer Yanya – Golden Cage
Nilüfer Yanya is one of the hottest upcoming artists from London. The music video is really misleading since the song is of top-notch quality, combining the best parts of R&B, and soul.
Cornelius – If You’re Here
This weeks #Xplaylist would be truly incomplete without the inclusion of ‘If You’re Here’. While Cornelius is based out of Japan, there’s nothing J-pop about their music. Plus, that music video is just memorizing.
London Grammar – Rooting For You
London Grammar returns with new music and they’re as haunting as they have ever been. Hannah Reid’s vocals on the song shine through, with half of it sung acapella, delivering a performance that’s authentic and highly emotive. We’re rooting for you, London Grammar!
Liam Gallagher – Wall Of Glass
While everyone’s buzzing with rumors of an Oasis reunion, Liam Gallagher’s busy putting out his first album as a solo artist. The song very quickly surpasses all the work he’s done with Beady Eye. While the song is ripe with nostalgia, it’s also a very modern-sounding production, with heavily compressed drums and really cool harmonica part going over the guitars.
Foo Fighters – Run
The Foo Fighters put out their first song in a long time, ‘Run’. The song is one of the heaviest tracks that the group has every released. However, the real hero here is the hilarious music video that accompanies it.
alt-J – Adeline
Alt-j recently released Relaxer, their first release in close to three years. ‘Adeline’ is one of those songs from the new album that showcases their versatility as a group, as it explores a darker, moodier side to the band’s music.
Roger Waters – The Last Refugee
The creative genius behind Pink Floyd, Roger Waters released his first album in nearly 25 years. It’s a long time to wait, but some would say its definitely worth the wait, considering what the result has been.
